# AgentMail alternatives: 7 options, by why you're leaving

The right AgentMail alternative depends on what's pushing you away. People
usually leave for one of four reasons: the free tier's footer and 100-a-day
cap, the step where a human has to pass the agent a 6-digit code, custom
domains being paid-only, or the jump from $20 to $200 a month. Each section
below names the alternatives that actually fix that reason, and the ones that
don't.

Botmail publishes this page and isn't affiliated with AgentMail or any other
provider named here. AgentMail's limits are from its
[pricing page](https://www.agentmail.to/pricing) and
[agent onboarding docs](https://docs.agentmail.to/agent-onboarding); every
other figure links to its source. All were checked on October 12, 2026.

## AgentMail's free tier, for reference

3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month, 100 a day, 3 GB, no custom domains, and a
"Sent via AgentMail" footer. The Developer plan is $20 a month for 10
inboxes, 10,000 emails, 1,000 a day and 10 custom domains. Startup is $200
for 150 inboxes and 15,000 a day. Extra inboxes, domains or 1,000 emails cost
$2 a month each. For the full breakdown see
[AgentMail pricing explained](https://botmail.pro/compare/agentmail-pricing).

## 1. "The free footer and 100 a day are too tight"

- **Botmail.** The footer stays on free mail, but the $5 Pro plan removes it,
against $20 on AgentMail. Free accounts start at 100 sends a day and rise
to 1,000 as the account earns trust; Pro starts at 200 and reaches 2,000.
- **[Dead Simple Email](https://deadsimple.email/)** gives 5 inboxes and
5,000 emails a month free, with no daily cap on its pricing page. Its $5
plan has 15 inboxes and 15,000 emails.
- **[Mails.ai](https://mails.ai/pricing)** allows 300 sends a day free (30 an
hour) and counts received mail separately, but has 1 agent.
- **Not a fix:** [OpenMail](https://openmail.sh/pricing)'s free tier has the
  same 3 inboxes, 3,000 a month and 100 a day.

## 2. "I don't want to relay a code to my agent"

With AgentMail's agent sign-up, the agent gives your email, AgentMail sends
you a 6-digit code, and until the agent submits it, the agent can only email
you. Someone has to copy the code back into the agent's session.

- **Botmail.** The agent runs one command and you get one email. You sign in
with GitHub, Google or Apple and click approve; nothing goes back to the
  agent.

  ```sh
  npx botmail claim ada --human you@example.com
  ```

- **[InboxAPI](https://inboxapi.ai/)** creates the account on first use with
  no human step. Owner verification is a 6-digit code too, but it's optional;
until you do it the account keeps trial limits and 5 outside-recipient
  slots.

## 3. "I need my own domain without paying $20"

Botmail does not support custom domains, so it's not an option here.

- **[Dead Simple Email](https://deadsimple.email/)**: 1 custom domain on the
$5 Hobby plan, 5 on the $29 plan.
- **[Cloudflare Email Service](https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-service/platform/pricing/)**:
any domain on Cloudflare DNS. Receiving is free; sending to anyone needs
Workers Paid at $5 a month with 3,000 emails included.
- **[Nylas Agent Accounts](https://www.nylas.com/pricing/)**: 1 custom
domain on the $15 plan, with a calendar on every account.
- **[OpenMail](https://docs.openmail.sh/pages/resources/faq)**: unlimited
custom domains on Pro, €9 a month plus usage.

## 4. "The jump from $20 to $200 is too steep"

On AgentMail, 50 inboxes cost $20 plus 40 add-ons at $2, or $100 a month.
Here is what the same 50 costs elsewhere at list price:

| Provider | Plan for 50 inboxes | Monthly price |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Botmail | Scale: 50 mailboxes, 50 GB, up to 40,000 sends a day | $50 |
| [Dead Simple Email](https://deadsimple.email/) | Pro: 100 inboxes, 100,000 emails a month | $29 |
| [Nylas](https://www.nylas.com/pricing/) | 50 agent accounts, 50,000 emails a month | $49 ($43 yearly) |
| [OpenMail](https://openmail.sh/pricing) | Pro with 40 extra inboxes at €1 | €49 plus extra emails |
| AgentMail | Developer plus 40 inbox add-ons | $100 |

Botmail's 15-mailbox Team plan at $20 also sits between AgentMail's free and
$200 tiers.

## When to stay with AgentMail

- You use IMAP or SMTP, WebSockets, or its Python and TypeScript SDKs.
- You need an EU region, SSO, dedicated IPs or a SOC 2 report.
- Your product creates inboxes for its own customers and you want Pods for
  multi-tenant isolation.
- Your agent framework already ships an AgentMail integration and you'd
  rather not change it.

## Questions

### What is the best AgentMail alternative?

It depends on why you're leaving. For no-code setup where the agent claims its own address, Botmail or InboxAPI. For more free volume, Dead Simple Email. For a custom domain under $20, Dead Simple Email, Cloudflare Email Service or Nylas. For many inboxes, Dead Simple Email, Nylas or Botmail's Scale plan.

### Is there a cheaper AgentMail alternative without the footer?

Botmail removes its "Sent via Botmail" line on the $5 Pro plan, compared with $20 for AgentMail's Developer plan. Botmail has no custom domains, so if you need one, Dead Simple Email's $5 plan includes one.

### Is Botmail affiliated with AgentMail?

No. Botmail is an independent service operated by Exon Enterprise LLC. The comparison uses AgentMail's public pricing page and documentation, checked in October 2026.
