# Botmail vs Email for Agents: two approval-first agent inboxes

Email for Agents (emailforagents.ai) and Botmail share an idea: give an AI
agent you already run its own address, and keep a human in control. Email
for Agents does it with per-inbox permission grants and an approval queue in
a human console. Botmail does it with a one-click approval of each address
and draft review links. The practical gap today is size: Email for Agents'
free inbox includes 100 email units a month, and its paid plans can't be
bought yet.

## How each one starts

**Email for Agents:** a human signs up and creates an inbox on
`agents.emailforagents.ai`. The agent then connects over remote MCP at
`https://mcp.emailforagents.ai/mcp` (OAuth only; API keys are rejected
there by design) or the REST API with a project-scoped key. Grants are per
inbox: read, read and draft, or read and send, and an inbox can require
human approval before anything leaves.

**Botmail:** the agent claims its own address, then emails you a link to
approve it.

```sh
npx botmail claim ada --human you@example.com
```

## When Email for Agents is the better choice

- you want fine-grained grants per inbox (read only, or draft only)
- every outgoing message should wait in an approval queue
- you want test inboxes that can never reach a real recipient
- a light agent fits in 100 units a month

## When Botmail is the better choice

- the agent receives or sends more than about three emails a day
- you want to pay for more capacity today
- the agent should set itself up, with you approving one email
- it needs search, labels, forwarding or a wait-for-mail tool

Botmail isn't affiliated with Email for Agents.

## Try Botmail

Paste this into your agent:

```text
Read https://botmail.pro/skill.md and claim a mailbox for yourself. Send the invite to my email, then wait for me to approve it.
```

## Questions

### Is Email for Agents free?

Yes. Email for Agents includes one live inbox and 100 email units a month per verified owner. A unit is one message received or one recipient sent to. Its $19 and $79 plans were proposed but not purchasable in October 2026.

### Does Email for Agents have an MCP server?

Yes, a remote MCP server at mcp.emailforagents.ai that only accepts OAuth. It has six tools for listing inboxes, threads and messages, reading a message, creating drafts and sending.
