# Free email for AI agents: every free tier and its catch

Yes, an AI agent can get a working email address for free. At least eleven
services offer a free tier, and each one has a catch. The catch is almost
always one of four things: a branding line on outgoing mail, a daily or
monthly send cap, a limit on who the agent can email, or mail that expires or
can't be bought past. Pick the free tier whose catch doesn't touch your use
case.

Every row below was checked against the provider's own pricing page or docs
on October 12, 2026. Where a provider doesn't publish a limit, the cell says
so rather than guessing. Botmail publishes this page and isn't affiliated with
the other providers.

## Every free tier, side by side

| Provider | What's free | Send cap | Who it can email | The catch |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| [Botmail](https://botmail.pro/ai-agent-email) | 1 mailbox, 100 MB | 100 a day at first, up to 1,000 as the account earns trust | 25 new recipients a day at first, up to 250 | "Sent via Botmail" line at the end of each email |
| [AgentMail](https://www.agentmail.to/pricing) | 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month, 3 GB | 100 a day | Only your email [until you enter a 6-digit code](https://docs.agentmail.to/agent-onboarding) | "Sent via AgentMail" footer |
| [InboxAPI](https://inboxapi.ai/) | Everything; no tiers | Daily quotas, not published | 5 outside recipients at a time; a slot frees after 5 days unused | Trial limits until you verify as owner; personal agent use only |
| [Robotomail](https://robotomail.com/pricing) | 1 mailbox | 10 sends and 10 receives a month | Only your verified email | Other incoming mail is discarded |
| [Dead Simple Email](https://deadsimple.email/) | 5 inboxes, 5,000 emails a month, 500 MB | Not published | Not limited on the pricing page | Shared domain only |
| [OpenMail](https://openmail.sh/pricing) | 3 inboxes, 3,000 emails a month, 3 GB | 100 a day | Not limited on the pricing page | No custom domains until Pro |
| [Mails.ai](https://mails.ai/pricing) | 1 agent, 3,000 sends and 3,000 received a month | 300 a day, 30 an hour | Cold outreach is refused on every plan | Sends from a shared `send.mails.ai` address |
| [Email for Agents](https://emailforagents.ai/pricing) | 1 live inbox, 100 email units a month | 100 units, in or out | Not limited on the pricing page | One free inbox per person; no paid plan to buy yet |
| [Nylas Agent Accounts](https://developer.nylas.com/docs/v3/agent-accounts/) | 3 accounts, 3,000 emails a month, 3 GB | 200 a day per account | Not limited in the docs | Trial `*.nylas.email` domain; inbox kept 30 days, spam 7 |
| [Mailtrap](https://mailtrap.io/pricing/) | 4,000 emails a month | 150 a day, sending and receiving combined | Not limited on the pricing page | A hosted inbox can send [20 replies in total](https://mailtrap.io/agent-inbox/) until you add a domain |
| [Cloudflare Email Service](https://developers.cloudflare.com/email-service/platform/pricing/) | Unlimited receiving | Sending needs Workers Paid ($5/mo) | Only addresses you've verified | You need a domain on Cloudflare DNS |

Two more come up often but aren't a full free inbox for an agent. Resend
Inboxes lists a free tier of 3 inboxes and 3,000 emails, but it is in
[private beta](https://resend.com/products/inboxes) and needs your own domain.
Google's [Gmail MCP server](https://developers.google.com/workspace/gmail/api/guides/configure-mcp-server)
is free with a Google account, but it's a developer preview, needs a Google
Cloud project and OAuth client, and its tools draft and label mail without
sending it.

## Which catch matters for your job

**Verification codes.** The agent signs up somewhere and needs the code in the
email. That means receiving from senders like GitHub or Stripe, which
Robotomail's free plan discards, since it only accepts mail from your own
address. Any of the others with a real address works. On Botmail one command
waits for the email and prints the code:

```sh
botmail wait --from github.com --extract code --timeout 5m
```

**Reports to yourself.** A daily summary to one person is the easiest case.
Every row handles it, including Robotomail if it's 10 or fewer a month. The
footer is the only thing you'll notice on Botmail and AgentMail.

**Replying to people who write in.** Volume adds up here. An agent answering
150 people a day sends about 4,500 emails a month. That is over the monthly
allowance of AgentMail, OpenMail, Mails.ai and Nylas, and over Mailtrap's 150
a day once the incoming mail counts too. Dead Simple Email's 5,000 a month
covers it, and Botmail covers it once the account has moved past its starting
100 a day.

**Many agents.** Dead Simple Email gives 5 free inboxes; AgentMail, OpenMail
and Nylas give 3. Botmail, Robotomail, Mails.ai and Email for Agents give 1.

## Botmail's free tier, plainly

One mailbox at `name@botmail.pro`, 100 MB, and sending that starts at 100
emails a day, 25 of them to people the agent hasn't emailed before. Both rise
a step at a time, at most once a week, while the account keeps bounces and
complaints low and gets replies, up to 1,000 a day.
First-contact mail is checked for spam and phishing. Free mail ends with a
short "Sent via Botmail" line; the $5 Pro plan removes it and adds two
mailboxes. There are no custom domains on any plan.

To claim one, paste this into your agent:

```text
Read https://botmail.pro/skill.md and claim a mailbox for yourself. Send the invite to my email, then wait for me to approve it.
```

## Questions

### Is there free email for AI agents?

Yes. Botmail, AgentMail, InboxAPI, Robotomail, Dead Simple Email, OpenMail, Mails.ai, Email for Agents, Nylas Agent Accounts and Mailtrap all have free tiers, and Cloudflare Email Service receives for free. Each has a catch, such as a footer, a send cap or a limit on who the agent can email.

### Which free agent email has no footer?

Botmail and AgentMail both add a short branding line to free mail and remove it on paid plans ($5 and $20 a month). The other providers in the table don't mention a footer on their pricing pages, which isn't the same as promising there is none.

### Can a free agent inbox email anyone?

Not always. Robotomail's free plan only exchanges mail with your verified address, InboxAPI keeps 5 outside recipients at a time, AgentMail only emails you until you enter a 6-digit code, and Cloudflare only sends free to addresses you have verified. Botmail starts free accounts at 25 new recipients a day.
